show and tell

today I did show and tell.

Sunday, 7 June 2009

We went to Manchester during half term. This is our strange hotel, it had been a warehouse or a mill in the olden days.

This is us at St Peters Square before we caught a tram. ifell over and hurt my foot but I survived. Nearly 200 years ago 12 people died here after sodiers charged a peaceful meeting. There were lots injured. It is known as Peterloo.

After we went to the Lowrey Centre we went to the War Museum to look at the Prisoner of War exibition cause Mum likes Tenko, a programme from the olden days.

Next day we went to the science museum. We found some radios and record players made by Ferrantis where my Granddad worked in the 1950s. He designed a portable record player which we thought we had found. It was not in this collection but a lady at the museum emailed my mum and it is on display in another museum. We hope to go there and see it one day. Shame Dad could not of seen it. We went to Chinatown which is not really a town but just a couple of streets. We go new chopsticks, fortune cookies and Ally got noodles.

for school

now this blog was my idea and its very exiting. It has a lot of picturs like these when we were on our trip to manchester on the holidays .I did his post for show and tell . This blog means a lot to me

Sawrey May Queen 09

hawkshead wind band, who played beautifully

Today we had Sawrey May Queen. We set up the hall this morning, when it was sunny and bright. We helped the committee set up and played at Braithwaite Hall. Then we had a rehearsal and watched the Maypole Dancers. After lunch, we joined all the children in the village for the parade between the villages. The queen and I rode on the carriage( thanks to Mr Long for bringing that along). The new queen was crowned, saint George fought the dragon and the dancers danced around the maypole. Then we had fun at the stalls. I helped run the tombola ( I won some bubbles and sweets when I had a go) and Ally ran the Treasure Hunt. It rained when the dancers were dancing but no one minded, they just kept on dancing and were very very good. I had a burger ( thanks to Mr Barr and Mr Haddow) It was a great day

wet sunday

had a very lazy day, after our evening of beauty last night. Hardly went out side and did not dare take the camera. At lunch time we had a huge hail storm and it rained for ages but was quite sunny later this afternoon. Watched tv, did some tai chi and had pizza for tea. May fair next week so will post lots of pics maybe not till Monday ( I will get mum to do it as I will be at school and brownies) Bye for now

thes pics were not on the blog properly

rst of the day

We came home and did some Pilates, yes Pilates. It was nice and relaxing. Now we are going to tend to our pets on facebook. I have a puppy called Lucy and Ally a kitten called Razza. I hope to get a horse ( only a facebook one not a real one)
Tonight we are having a girly night ( maybe not Ally) with a long bath and a facial.
Here are some lambs, the village again and our post box which has GR which stands for George Rex. Nowadays, post boxes have Elizabeth Regina on them and there are lots with VR- Victoria Regina. As George was not on the throne as long as his Granny or Great grand daughter (our Queen) there are fewer of the GR ones . History lesson ends now. Hoping for a day in tomorrow, helping Mum sort the dining room out in time for our new carpet being fitted next week. Thanks for watching

saturday

Miserable weather to begin with. Tidied my bedroom and Ally helped put away tesco order. We went for a walk despite the rain and had lunch at the Sawrey Hotel. I had sausage and chips, Ally and mum had a sandwich. It was very good, of course, as my auntie cooked it.
It was raining very hard, on the way home and I whined like a teenager as I was cold and wet. Mum and Ally walked on, quickly and were nice and warm. Three weeks ago, we were paddling in the beck!!!
Here are some photos of the church, the beck ( best bridge in the world for pooh sticks) and the village. It is very pretty even in the rain

Thanks to all who left us messages and have joined the list of followers.
This week we had a bbq at the vicarage. I had burgers and crisps and we made rafts, which we floated on the paddling pool and we made dens.
Today was an eco open day at school and we made reusable canvas bags. I painted mine with a landscape and Ally had a forrest. We also made some Irish Soda Bread and Mummy and Granny are a bit annoyed that we did not bring any home.
A special hello to Anne in Kilmacolm, hope you are well.
Got to go now time for tea.

sunny monday

It is sunny ( now bed time is here) but it was very wet this morning. More lambs than tourists today but the ferry is off for ages. Today at shcool we worked very hard today doing literacy maths and history. Then gym, after school. Monday night is homework night, so not a lot of time to play but I have written a new song. Off to watch some tv before bed and a bit more of Kinsuke.

actually it is Kensuke's Kingdom I am reading but Mummy cant spell

1st Timers

We live in Sawrey and I want to let you all share in how lovely it is to live here. I have lived here since I was a baby and my brother al his life. Sawrey is a beautiful place to live. We can look out our window and see new born lambs, which prance about and play all day. You can also stop by the Sawrey Stores where we get our weekly sweets. Just across the road from the shop is the wonderful Sawrey Hotel. Yesterday we went on the passenger launch, to Bowness, which was great fun. Mummy was looking at a new car as she is about to learn to drive. We are probably going to buy a blue car.
We love reading stories by our famous local author, Beatrix Potter. Our house is in one of the books.
I am reading Kingusies Kingdom at the moment which is a great read.
Today has been sunny but not very warm,. Last wekend it was warm enough for us to swim in the beck but most people who saw us thought we were a bit mad as it is only April.
